Faculty Member and Pianist Ramzi Shomali Performs in Concerts in Italy and Germany

Being able to travel and perform is a part of every musician’s dream – which is precisely why Dar al-Kalima University faculty member Ramzi Shomali was so honored to participate in concerts in Italy and Germany. Starting on November 30th, 2022, pianist Shomali played at the “Il Senso Della Musica” (Sense Of the Music) conference concert at his alma mater Conservartorio di Vicenza in Italy. This was followed by a performance at the “Klassik zu Gast bei Coppeneur” (Classic Music Series in Copenhaur) concert series at a chocolate factory near Bonn, Germany on December 4th, 2022. Throughout these events, Shomali introduced and discussed Arab and Palestinian melodies as well as Christmas music referencing Bethlehem, where Jesus was born. Shomali says that he was hesitant to perform internationally after the travel restrictions of the pandemic, but now sees the whole experience as a dream come true. This trip offered Shomali the opportunity to visit Beethoven’s house in Bonn, Germany and reconnect with colleagues and professors at the conservatory in Italy. What an amazing experience to explore the home-based of one of the greatest composers and pianists in the history of Western music! Dar al-Kalima University is always offering local and international opportunities to its staff and faculty members to grow professionally in their areas of specialty.
