Student Mishleen Marcos, from the Master’s Program in Art Therapy at Dar al‑Kalima University, participated in the 2nd International Conference on Virtual Reality and Mental Health held in Helsingborg, Sweden. A distinguished group of specialists in psychology and virtual reality from universities around the world took part in the conference.
At the event, Marcos presented a scientific poster based on her MA thesis, titled: “The impact of immersive 3D virtual reality environments combined with background music on anxiety symptoms among undergraduates”. Additionally, she took part in an advanced workshop during the conference, which discussed the ethics of virtual reality and mental health, a pressing topic in current global debates in this field.
It is worth mentioning that Dar al‑Kalima University was the only university from the Arab world represented at the conference. The MA Art Therapy program at Dar al‑Kalima encourages keeping pace with modern advancements in psychology and the arts through the integration of virtual reality and artificial intelligence technologies, and this global participation is one of the outcomes of that vision.
